Health is a state of full or partial well-being where infirmity and illness are absent. It is the combination of the physiological, psychological, and behavioral attributes that contribute to an individual’s well being and is reflected in his/her physical and mental processes. Health is a state which can be achieved through physical activities such as breathing exercises, meditation, yoga and relaxation techniques. Health is the state where one feels at ease and relaxed with good concentration levels and active participation in activities.

Health is something we all want to attain for ourselves and our children but only a few get their way. Most of us have a healthy lifestyle and eat well but there are some who live unhealthy lives due to lack of proper education, lack of fitness and nutrition and poor lifestyle practices such as smoking, alcohol abuse, etc. Some diseases like diabetes, hypertension, cancer and heart problems have a direct link with poor health status. A few people may experience some diseases but are lucky as they are quite healthy otherwise. Many others fall prey to common colds, influenza and other diseases that spread quickly and are very hard to fight against.

A balanced lifestyle and well-organized food habits keep the body fit and strong and prevent common health issues like obesity, smoking, blood pressure, etc. This in turn protects us from the common diseases like diabetes, hypertension, heart problems, flu, etc. These diseases spread very fast and do not show any symptoms. They attack the immune system, which results in chronic health problems. Lack of communication and lack of adequate knowledge on these health issues are the main reasons why people fail to live healthy lives.

A healthy and a clean environment are the main article in the prevention and cure of various health problems. A healthy living habit keeps the body free from sickness and diseases. Occupational safety is an essential part of working in the factories, offices, schools, hospitals, nursing homes, etc. In these institutions, hazards like chemicals, heat, electric shock, toxic substances, noise, vibration, dust, etc are present. In case of any accident or illness, the employer must have a proper risk management program and the employees should work safely in all circumstances.

Mental health is another main article in this context. If we take into consideration the number of people who suffer from mental health issues, it rises to thousands of people. These issues affect the general and the family life as well. Mental health issues can be separated out into two main categories, one is the disorder of thought and the second is the disorder of thought patterns. Both of them can be caused by the physical or mental stress which a person undergoes while performing his/ her work.

A healthy lifestyle will increase the overall physical and mental health of a person. Health promotion will increase the social well-being of people. It will prevent diseases and will reduce the risk of mental illnesses. These things can be incorporated into a lifestyle and an individual’s life.
