Skin Care Products Basics

Skin care is the collection of practices that support skin health, improve its appearance and alleviate several skin conditions. The basic skin care involves cleansing and hydrating skin twice or thrice daily. They can comprise application of emollients, avoidance of too much sun light and correct use of moisturizers. Skin care includes prevention of disorders such as acne, keratosis pilaris, psoriasis, skin ulcers and others. Prevention of disorders also includes proper usage of sunscreen lotions and avoiding smoking. Individuals with certain medical conditions, including allergies to skin care products should consult skin doctors before using them.

Routine Skin Care It is important to maintain a healthy skin by applying skin care products at regular intervals. In order to get maximum benefit from them, it is important to select good quality products every time. Selecting the right products at the right time ensures that there are no complications due to the wrong lotion or cream used at the wrong time.

Cleanser: A cleansing agent should be used after cleansing the face and taking a bath. A toner removes excess oil, dirt and make-up from the face and helps reduce the effect of wrinkles and increases the natural glow of skin. The most common toners used in the routine of skin care include toners containing humectants (antimony, glycerine, sodium benzoate) and lanolin. The toners are then applied over the cleanser and removed with warm water.

Moisturizer: A moisturizer is usually applied before bedtime and another one during the morning or alternate times during the day. They prevent the dryness of the skin and add shine to the complexion. Commonly used moisturizers include moisturizers with glycolic acid and salicylic acid. Some of the popular brands in the market are Mineral Make-up, Olay, concealer, hello hydration and more. The proper amount of the moisturizer is determined by the type of skin.

Sunscreen: A sunscreen protects the skin against the harmful UV-A rays of the sun. Skin care products containing sunscreen are available in the form of gels, lotions, creams, lotions, sunscreens and more. The proper way of using the sunscreen depends on the type of product – whether a gel or lotion, for instance, needs to be applied before entering the house.

Facial massage: this has been shown to have a soothing effect on the skin. It helps to increase blood circulation to the facial tissues. Massaging also stimulates the lymphatic system, which drains the toxins from the body. This in turn helps to keep the whole body in good condition. Regular facials increase the production of collagen and the cells turnover rate. Facial massage can be given in different styles such as kneading, tapping, brushing and more.
